Greenwich from Island Gardens

THE VIEW of Greenwich's Old Royal Naval College from Island Gardens is one of the beautiful in London and was famously recorded in Canaletto's 'View of Greenwich from the River'. The land at Island Gardens, or "Scrap Iron Park" as it was previously known, was bought by the Greenwich Hospital estate so that its pensioners could continue to enjoy the view from across the river without it being developed on.

In Island Gardens there's the domed entrance to the Greenwich Foot Tunnel- on which work is now thankfully moving ahead with - and a small cafe. One thing it doesn't have, however, is a public toilet (and there's not one in the cafe, either) - This petition has been set up to call on the local authority to provide such a convenience.
