PUTNEY Bridge in South West London has closed to all motor traffic until October.
The scheduled closure is so that Wandsworth Council can undertake a £1.5million repair programme on the bridge which was opened by the Prince and Princess of Wales in 1886.
While the "vitally-needed repairs" take place to the Grade-II listed structure, pedestrians and cyclists can still cross the bridge.
Passengers using bus services that would normally cross the bridge can get off at one side, walk over and continue from a different bus with it counting as one single journey.
