Gravesend sunset and sunrise

Rob PowellCruise Ships, Weather

March came to an end and April started last week with a pleasing sunset and sunrise over the Thames at Gravesend.

The sun sets on March 31st behind the old West Street station pier at Gravesend. The pier was part of a platform at the old Gravesend West railway station that jutted out on to the river.

About 10 hours later, the sky is full of pretty hues of pink, orange and blue over Tilbury shortly before the sun rises.

With the sun risen in the east, a cyclist stops on Gravesend prom to admire the scene and take a photo.

A short time later, the CMV cruise ship Magellan arrives – seen here passing Gravesend prom as she nears her home port of Tilbury.
